Eagles’ ‘Live From The Forum’ Soars With Band’s Best Sales Week in More Than 10 Years

Eagles fly in at No. 5 on the Album Sales chart (dated Oct. 31) with the band’s best sales week in over a decade, as their new Live From The Forum MMXVIII debuts with 24,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 22, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
The arrival marks the largest sales week for any album by the group since its studio set Long Road Out of Eden sold 38,000 copies in the week ending Feb. 17, 2008 (chart dated March 1).
Billboard’s Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The Album Sales chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Pure album sales were the measurement solely utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. Live From The Forum MMXVIII also scores the band its highest charting effort on Album Sales since former No. 1 Eden placed at No. 4 in its eighth week on the list (on the Jan. 5, 2008-dated chart).
Live From The Forum MMXVII is the group’s first new album release since the 2016 death of co-founder Glenn Frey (and which features his son Deacon and country star Vice Gill). It was available in a variety of deluxe formats, including a set with four vinyl LPs, two CDs and a blu-ray disc for $149.98.
The album was recorded over three nights at The Forum in Los Angeles in September of 2018. It includes renditions of familiar favorites like the top 10-charting Billboard Hot 100 singles “One of These Nights,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Take It to the Limit,” “Hotel California,” “Heartache Tonight” and “I Can’t Tell You Why.”
